Thick and Thin Questions
The text we are using to model and practice is in our reading book.  It is titled My Very Own Room.  We will not be testing on this story, but using it as a tool to learn how asking questions makes us better readers.

This is Chapter 3 in our textbook.  Students must be able to identify the characteristics of each tribe including culture, government, and daily life.

A good way to practice this is to ask your child why a specific animal or plant can or cannot live in a habitat.  For example, why can a cactus not grow in the rainforest?

Red Ribbon Week
This upcoming week is Red Ribbon Week. Below is a list of ways Rice Creek will celebrate Red Ribbon Week.  Please note our spirit days!


Monday, Oct. 26th     
Students receive a Red Ribbon Pencil!!!
Red Food in the cafeteria everyday (yummy)!!!
Write a poem, essay, song, or create a poster about why it’s important to say no to drugs
Tuesday, Oct. 27th  
Wacky Socks Day!!!  Wear your favorite socks or mix n’ match your socks
Wednesday, Oct.28th  
Join the Drug Free Team!!!   Everyone may wear their favorite team shirt or jersey!
Drug Free Pep Rally
Thursday, Oct. 29th  
Put a Cap On Drugs Day!!!  Wear your favorite hat to put a cap on drugs
Friday, Oct. 30st   
Wear Red Day!!! Everyone is asked to wear something red!

We will have school make up pictures taken on Thursday, November 5th. This is for any student who was not here at school that day. This is a pre-pay picture packet.


Also, if a student took their picture on September 17th and would like to re-take them, they can do so at this time.  The original whole set of pictures will need to be returned to be able to have the re-take pictures made.

Every Thursday, students will bring home school communication (Thursday) folders. Please go over the papers in the folder with your child & then sign beside each new paper on the grade sheet. The signed folder should be returned by Monday.

We are in need of paper towel and toilet paper rolls.  We are using them in science.  If you have any extra, please send them in!
