What Are We Learning?

What Are We Learning?

Reading
Good Readers Question While Reading, but HOW? and WHY?
Thick and Thin Questions
The text we are using to model and practice is in our reading book.  It is titled My Very Own Room.  We will not be testing on this story, but using it as a tool to learn how asking questions makes us better readers.

Writing and identifying complete sentences
Prefixes un- re- and pre-
The best practice is to read with your child and find words that have those prefixes and identify the types of sentences that you are reading as a family.

Science
Animal and Plant Adaptations
A good way to practice this is to ask your child why a specific animal or plant can or cannot live in a habitat.  For example, why can a cactus not grow in the rainforest?

Please make sure you are signing your child's homework agenda every night.  Students keep track of daily behavior and homework in the agenda.

Every Thursday, students will bring home school communication (Thursday) folders. Please go over the papers in the folder with your child & then sign beside each new paper on the grade sheet. The signed folder should be returned by Monday.

We are in need of paper towel and toilet paper rolls.  We are using them in science.  If you have any extra, please send them in!
